The ban will prohibit all patients, visitors and staff from smoking on all hospital premises. Parking is included.
How will vaping be affected?
The NHS website is becoming more aggressive about fogging. In recent years, a number of hospitals have established specific e-cigarette shelters, and West Bromwich and Birmingham City Hospitals have gone a step further and now have e-cigarette shops in hospital buildings.
Today, vaping is recognized as the most popular smoking cessation aid, and research in early 2019 showed that e-cigarettes are more effective than traditional NRT such as stickers and gum. As a result, doctors and GPs are increasingly likely to endorse e-cigarettes as smoking cessation help. It has even been reported that practicing doctors allow patients to smoke in their wards.
Should the NHS be doing more to help ensure these professionals are properly informed about the UK’s most popular smoking cessation assistance? Nurses certainly thought so, with 78.2 percent saying they wanted more training.
Although work still needs to be done, it is good to see the NHS taking forward-thinking initiatives to help reduce smoking rates. Interest rates are at their lowest level on record, currently at 14.4 percent. However, in order for the Government to meet the smoke-free target, the percentage must be reduced to less than 5 percent.
